Slab Heating: Easy Way To Keep Your Slab Floor Heated
Heating cables are located between 35mm and 50mm below floor coverings. The heat is generated by the cables during off-peak hours, stored in the concrete slab and then dissipated slowly during the day.
Zones can be divide by room or more typically by open space and are thermostatically controlled. The effect of in slab heating is continuous and akin to a pleasant background heat source.
Heating Polished Concrete Floors
An in-slab heating solution is the best option for polished concrete floors and large-scale commercial developments such as cold rooms. Once the concrete is poured and allowed to set – as per the manufacturer’s written specifications – the floor can be covered, rendered or polished without any regard to the heating system below.
Truly, an in slab system can be a lifelong and permanent feature of a building.

Underfloor Electrical Heating vs Hydronic Floor Heating
There is a belief that hydronic floor heating systems are cheaper, safer and easier to enjoy. This is not the case. Hydronic floor heating systems have a number of hidden costs.
Electric floor heating systems once installed do not require adjustment, maintenance or third party products to function. Livella recommend making yourself familiar with hydronic heating technologies before making your decision.
A Livella electric underfloor heating systems has a number of advantages over an in-slab hydronic system, these include; repair costs, even heat distribution, running costs, operating styles and maintenance costs.
